GUI Breaks on Win11

Hi!

Something recently started happening and I'm not sure if it's related to the latest release or if it's just my system. I've got multiple monitor with different resolutions and I noticed that when moving the CoolTerm Window from 1 monitor to the next it will hang, become unresponsive, and maybe 1 minute later it comes back and views properly. Sometimes the data window will be blank but all of the menu items still work as well as it capturing data to a file.

Today I had something a little different when I woke my system from sleeping I see the app looking like this, well sorry, doesn't look like I can attach a picture. By the menu bar seems enlarged and the status bar is missing. If I drag the window size the status bar will appear while I'm changing the size but doesn't appear when I release the window size.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card with the latest drivers

Thanks,
George

Hi,

thanks for reporting this. I haven't received any reports of this happening on other users' systems, but to see if it's related to the latest release you can test older versions (which you can find here: https://freeware.the-meiers.org/previous/) and see if the issue persists with older versions.

Regards,

Roger

I've changed my monitors since then and when I woke up my PC I saw this happen again. Here's a screen capture of what I tried to describe back in November,

https://1drv.ms/i/s!Aq7zmueeHqmsjvNBljZ ... Q?e=yF4Xke

I haven't had a chance to install older versions but I don't recall this happening with CoolTerm in the past and I've been using it for many years.

Yeah, that's weird. I've never seen anything like this happen, and one of the systems I have access to has monitors with different resolution. Thanks for posting the screen shot. It would definitely be helpful to know if previous versions do the same thing on your system now, or if only the current one exhibits this issue.

Well this is with different monitors so I'm not sure about that but this waking from sleep (on a Windows 11 PC) has happened with the same PC with 3 monitors and now with 2 so I'd say it's more related to the OS rather than monitors.

It's just the main window and footer that gets impacted.

Is there a way that I can have both version open on my computer at the same time? When I try to do this it tells me that another instance is running. Since I'm not sure if this happens every time I wanted to have both versions open so we could see when this happens

Yes, you can have multiple versions on the system as long as only one of them is running at any given time. Before you launch another version, make sure sure you quit the CoolTerm version that is currently running.

Yes, I knew that but my question was if there was a way to have 2 versions running at the same time which would very clearly show if there was a difference between the versions. This isn't something that happens every time so I'm just trying to make the debugging easier.

It does the same with version 2.1.1, I guess I can go back to before version 2.x??

I see. No, you can’t have 2 instances running at the same time, regardless of the versions.

I have tested 2.01, 2.11, and 2.30 and they all have the same behavior that I've shown. I tested 1.91 and it did NOT do what I've shown.

Here's the latest screen shot, https://1drv.ms/i/s!Aq7zmueeHqmsjvgdrNg ... w?e=daF9KZ

I only tested the 64-bit versions of the 2.xx versions

I'm running Win11 Pro, 24H2 64-bit, although I believe this has been going on for a while so it's not tied to 24H2
